December 22, 2014: Over your holiday break, you may have time to spend a little more time on social media than usual. It can be great to catch up on what your friends and acquaintances are doing, and share your own holiday snaps. There are definitely some Instagram photos that will be repetitive as users head home for the holidays, and there are a few photos that there’s no avoiding.

Do any of these sound familiar?

1. The Old Person Photo
How cute are your parents/grandparents/great grandparents? Insert an obligatory story about how clueless they are about where the photo is going. (“Gosh Grandma, this isn’t for Facebook! That’s for old people! LOL.”)

2. The Baby Photo
Aw, babies are even cuter than old people! It doesn’t matter if it’s your child, borrow a niece/nephew/godchild, etc. and show off your “good with kids” side.

3. The “I’m Cold”
Props for this photo include slippers, Snuggies, blankets and tea. Complaining is one of social media’s favorite pastimes, and this is a surefire way to express your discomfort in the winter chill.

4. The Tree
For those of you celebrating Christmas, we have now seen your tree and the decorated trees of everyone we know. Thank you so much. This also goes for “homemade ornament” photos.

5. Light Show
Show everyone how fantastic your lit up house is! Or, in my case, how pathetic.

6. Gift-wrapped Gifts
This is purely a way to show everyone how very thoughtful you are. It’s also a way to make everyone irritated, because who likes presents that aren’t for them? Not me.

7. The Humble Brag
Did you get a really cool gift, like a car or gadget or a million dollars? Did you take an amazing vacation somewhere exotic or beautiful for the holidays? Snap a photo and share it with the world!

8. Catching Up With Hometown Buddies
Obligatory snap with the people you catch up with once a year. Make sure you tag everyone and promise to “grab lunch,” even though social media is the only way you usually communicate.

9. Homemade Cooking
The ultimate in food snaps: Grandma’s freshly baked pie. There’s nothing wrong with a little extra holiday padding, right?

10. The #TBT
Look how cute you were as a baby! Bonus points for:
a. Holiday Themed Photo (Double Bonus for crying on Santa’s Lap)
b. Bad decade clothing
c. Silly baby hair/scrunchies

…Clearly, I win.
