Discussion of Didit’s Tracking Technology
Last updated: August 24th, 2011
Didit Search Marketing is a full service search engine marketing firm that builds and executes on custom search marketing solutions for our clients. Formed in 1996, the company continuously leads the evolution of the industry through development of custom technologies and strategies unique to our client’s business objectives.
A primary component for the success of our client’s strategic search marketing campaigns is the use of our proprietary tracking system. The tracking system captures information relative to the search campaigns that are currently running for our clients (keyword, match type and creative level information). Secondary information that our tracking system logs, which is common in most web servers, is the internet protocol address (IP), the date/time of the transaction, browser type, referring page, requesting page and platform type. In addition to logging the above information, Didit also places a small text file, known as a “cookie”, on the user’s machine. The cookie contains no personally identifiable information and is used to correlate inbound click events into our clients’ websites to subsequent conversion or action points defined by our client’s on their web page(s).
The conversion or action points, defined by our clients, are tracked when the client places Didit tracking pixels, also known as web beacons or action tags, on their website. The client has the option of appending non-personally identifiable information to the tracking pixel(s) which can inform our automated optimization engine. In addition to any anonymous information passed on by the client, the same standard web server information mentioned above is also logged.
Didit is in compliance with the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) P3P specifications for cookies used by Didit on behalf of our clients. Information about P3P specifications is located at http://www.w3.org/P3P/.
Didit provides our clients the ability to target online advertisements based on an anonymous cookie to their customers through technology partnerships we have. Those partners utilize their own cookies and proprietary technology to perform those targeting efforts. If you do not want to have the machine you use to browse the internet participate in any such targeting provided to Didit clients, you can click on the two links below to no longer receive those targeted messages.
For other advertising networks that may have technology that is currently targeting online advertisements based on an anonymous cookie to you, visit http://www.networkadvertising.org/managing/opt_out.asp to manage where or if you want to be targeted to.
Storage and Reporting of Information:
All information logged by our tracking web servers are uploaded to a central repository, using industry standard secure transfer protocols, where they are processed and stored into a secured database and subsequently removed from the front-end web server. The raw web log files are then compressed and archived into an internal storage system. Viewing and reporting on the processed data is only available to authorized users through a proprietary user interface that uses industry standard security protocols.
