Judges Will Task Students with a Timed Marketing Assignment as Part of Competition

logoMineola, NY – October 25, 2016 – Hosted by the Adelphi University Robert B. Willumstad School of Business, the annual Adelphi Apprentice Challenge gives business students from various high schools in the region the chance to demonstrate their skills by developing and presenting a strategic marketing plan and campaign to a panel of judges. Among the judges at this year’s Apprentice Challenge will be a group of executives from Didit, a fully integrated marketing and communications firm headquartered in Mineola, New York. The competition, part of the Annual High School Special Event Series, will be held on Friday, November 4, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Ruth S. The Didit executives on the panel will include Chief Executive Officer/Co-Founder Dave Pasternack, Chief Operating Officer and Adelphi University Alumnus Renee Marquardt, Vice President of Strategy Andy Jacobs, and Vice President of Client Services Eric Wiggins.

“We greatly appreciate the opportunity to participate in such an important academic event,” said Mr. Pasternack. “This competition is a wonderful opportunity to shape and empower the business and marketing minds of our future through creative and critical thinking and we are privileged to be a part of it.”

A total of 240 students from Long Island and the greater New York City area will be divided into 24 teams of 10 members. Each team will select a project manager, who will serve as the leader of the team and delegate roles and tasks.

The judges will first explain their marketing assignment to the students and then each student team will brainstorm and create its marketing plan and campaign within a one-hour time frame. During the first round of student presentations, the judges will select the top six teams with the most effective campaigns. Those teams will then present again during the final round of the competition. At the conclusion of the event, the winning team will be announced during an awards ceremony where a prize will be granted.
